Nvidia Partners with Corning to Power Up U.S. AI Supply Chain

(MENAFN) US chip behemoth Nvidia and materials science leader Corning unveiled a multiyear commercial and technology alliance on Wednesday, aimed at dramatically scaling domestic manufacturing capacity for optical connectivity solutions that underpin the next generation of artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Under the terms of the agreement, Corning will multiply its US optical connectivity manufacturing capacity tenfold while simultaneously expanding domestic fiber production by more than 50%, the two companies disclosed in a joint statement.

The sweeping expansion will involve the construction of three state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across North Carolina and Texas, generating more than 3,000 "high-paying" jobs across the United States.

The additional capacity will directly feed into optical connectivity systems serving hyperscale data centers that rely on Nvidia-accelerated computing infrastructure deployed at scale. Both companies noted that the explosive growth of modern AI workloads—which demand thousands of Nvidia graphics processing units operating in concert—is fueling unprecedented appetite for high-performance optical fiber, connectivity, and photonics technologies capable of transmitting data at both high speed and high volume.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang characterized the moment as a defining one for both technology and national industry, describing AI as driving "the largest infrastructure buildout of our time" and opening new avenues to reinforce US manufacturing and supply chains.

"Together with Corning, we are inventing the future of computing with advanced optical technologies — building the foundation for AI infrastructure where intelligence moves at the speed of light while advancing the proud tradition of Made in America," Huang said.

Corning Chairman and CEO Wendell Weeks framed Nvidia's commitment as concrete evidence of AI's broader economic impact beyond Silicon Valley.

"This partnership is proof that AI is not just a technology story. It is a manufacturing story, and it is happening here in the United States," Weeks said.

Corning, long distinguished for its expertise in glass science, optical physics, and low-loss optical fiber technology, said it is well-positioned to absorb rising demand driven by AI infrastructure projects, as optical connectivity cements itself as an increasingly indispensable element of large-scale AI systems.
